Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Pathology Specimen Collector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the collection, handling, and processing of biological specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

- Collect blood and other biological specimens from patients in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of specimens according to established protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all infection control guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and alleviate concerns.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal specimen quality and turnaround times.
- Assist in training new staff and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients and team members.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and adhering to safety protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.

Requirements and Qualifications

- Certificate in Pathology Collection or equivalent qualification.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or laboratory setting is preferred.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Compliance with state-based vaccination requirements.
- Valid working rights in Australia.
