Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Underground Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy diesel machinery used in underground mining operations. This role requires a strong technical background, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy duty diesel equipment and machinery.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and inventory levels.
- Collaborate with other team members to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior mechanics as needed.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Trade qualification as a Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with heavy diesel machinery, preferably in an underground mining environment.
- Current driver’s license and relevant certifications (e.g., Working at Heights, Confined Space).
- Commitment to safety and a strong understanding of mining safety regulations.
- Flexibility to work various shifts and overtime as required.
