Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Underground Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy diesel equipment used in underground mining operations. This role requires a thorough understanding of diesel engines and hydraulic systems, as well as a commitment to safety and efficiency in a challenging work environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs on heavy-duty diesel machinery, including excavators, loaders, and haul trucks.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective solutions to minimize equipment downtime.
- Conduct inspections and routine servicing to ensure equipment is operating at optimal levels.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs performed.
- Comply with safety regulations and company policies while working in a confined underground environment.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure seamless operations and support.
Required Skills
- Proficient in diagnosing and repairing heavy diesel engines and associated systems.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems within heavy machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years experience working with heavy-duty diesel equipment, preferably in an underground setting.
- Relevant certifications in safety and mining operations (e.g., Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry).
- Current driver’s license and ability to pass medical and safety assessments.
- Willingness to work in remote locations and adhere to varying shift schedules.
