Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial insights. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and reports in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and prepare necessary tax returns.
- Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, monitoring variances and reporting findings.
- Liaise with external auditors during the annual audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, or equivalent).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or CA qualification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in financial accounting or similar roles.
- Experience in managing financial reporting and compliance in an Australian context is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor team members.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
