Senior Threatened Species Officer – Landscape Delivery


Job Summary

The Senior Threatened Species Officer – Landscape Delivery will be responsible for leading and coordinating efforts to protect and conserve threatened species within designated landscapes. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, conservation organizations, and local communities, to implement effective strategies that promote biodiversity and sustainable land management practices.

Responsibilities

- Develop and implement conservation programs and projects aimed at protecting threatened species and their habitats.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to assess the status of threatened species and identify conservation priorities.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of conservation initiatives, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and funding proposals to secure resources for conservation activities.
- Facilitate workshops and training sessions to raise awareness and build capacity among stakeholders regarding threatened species conservation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies related to biodiversity and conservation.

Required Skills

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex ecological data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging and influencing diverse stakeholders.
- Proven project management skills, with a track record of delivering conservation initiatives on time and within budget.
- Familiarity with ecological monitoring techniques and biodiversity assessment methodologies.
- Proficient in the use of GIS and other relevant software for data analysis and mapping.

Requirements and Qualifications

- A degree in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in conservation, ecology, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of Australian biodiversity laws and policies is preferred.
- Current driver’s license and the ability to travel to field sites as required.
