Media Relations Assistant


Job Summary

The Media Relations Assistant will support the media relations team in developing and maintaining positive relationships with media outlets. This role will assist in the execution of media strategies, manage media inquiries, and contribute to the creation of press materials, ensuring effective communication of the organisation's messages.

Responsibilities

- Assist in drafting and distributing press releases, media kits, and other communication materials.
- Monitor media coverage and compile reports on media activity.
- Respond to media inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain and update the media contact database.
- Support the planning and coordination of media events and press conferences.
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and insights for media communications.
- Assist in developing content for social media and other digital platforms to enhance media outreach.

Requirements and Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Previous experience in media relations or communications is desirable but not essential.
- Familiarity with Australian media landscape is an advantage.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A genuine interest in media and public relations.
